Learning Through Doing

Jean Piaget studied the importance of play in the cognitive and social development of children. The same benefits exist for adults, and when considered in an educational context it relates to the construction of meaning and stretching beyond the known and into the imagined. Many of the advances in educational technology and learning environments has been made possible because of the relationships of technology and gaming, with games propelling contemporary learning theories into action. I have worked alongside Linda Polin in supporting game-based learning environments as well as researching their history and practical implications.
